Duynie Maintenance team makes a leap forward with Ultimo Training
Duynie is Europe’s largest processor of co-products from the food, beverage, and biofuel industries, handling over 6.5 million tons of residual streams annually. Operating across 21 European countries, Duynie continuously strives for operational excellence, including in asset management. For its production site in Wrexham (UK), Duynie sought a partner to help fully leverage the Ultimo EAM system.
Pontifexx Academy provided the solution: a tailor-made Train-the-Trainer on-site course, focused on deepening knowledge and ensuring immediate applicability on the shop floor.

Although Ultimo was already in use, many maintenance activities were still cumbersome. Technicians often entered data back at the office, causing delays, inefficiencies, and the risk of incomplete information. The maintenance team specifically needed:
- Advanced knowledge of Ultimo Mobile
- Better understanding of setting up and managing PM routes
- A method to make maintenance processes structurally simpler and more consistent

The solution: in-depth on-site training with customization
Pontifexx Academy deployed trainer Bas Kuipers to conduct the training at the Wrexham site for three of Duynie’s key users. Bas quickly noticed that the participants’ knowledge was higher than anticipated, so he adapted the program on the spot.

The results:
More efficient and mobile maintenance
Following the training, maintenance processes in Wrexham improved significantly. The greatest gains are in setting up and managing Preventive Maintenance (PM).
Jack Kynaston: “Previously, that was our biggest challenge. Bas showed us how to set up maintenance routes and PM schedules properly. Our daily, weekly, and monthly planning is now much clearer, and workloads have decreased.” With mobile usage, technicians no longer need to return to the office to update records. “They no longer write anything on paper. They take their phones and enter data directly into the system, which makes them much more efficient while working.”
Next step: Train-the-Trainer in practice
The three key users now act as internal trainers, guiding colleagues according to the Train-the-Trainer methodology.
Jack Kynaston: “We now do ‘on-the-job training.’ We walk through production together, select a task, and go through the procedure exactly as Bas taught us. It works perfectly.”
The focus is now on further enriching the Ultimo system, adding components, and refining PM schedules for the complex equipment at the site.
